Look at this analogy taken from Alberto Savoia's Working Effectively With Characterization Tests:

Trying to understand a system’s behavior by looking at a pile of code that you did not write is like trying to understand a cow’s behavior by looking at a butcher’s shelf.

Does that mean I'm a farmer, dealing with cows every day?
